West Oahu VEX Tournament at UHWO
This year at the West Oahu tournament teams 4142 B and C competed against all 31 teams. Both teams played their to the best of their abilities; leaving everything out on the field. It was nice for both teams to have a chance and compete without the A team, because the A team was given the oppurtunity to help their sister teams and giving them their best shot at winning.
Although there were some setbacks in the tournament, both teams were still prepared to compete. The competition started out like any other: unpacked tools, the robot, batteries; get the robot ready for inspection. After inspection both teams started to practice driving to get a feel of the fields, calibrate the autonomous' to the field. Due to the delay in the competition the B and C team started to do their programming and drivers skills. As a result, the B team was first in programming with a score of 26. The C was ranked 4 in programming with a score of 13. As for drivers skills the B team was ranked first again in drivers skills with a score of 60, and the C team was second with a score of 51.
Eventually, the competition started and the both teams were ready to compete and show West Oahu what they were made of. At the end of the qualification matches 4142 B ranked 4th place, and 4142 C ranked 5th place overal. As alliance selection came upon us the first seeded team, 359A, alianced with team 4142B and 42700. The C team allianced with 4109 and 1973A.
Unfortunately, the C team only continued on to semi finals match #2 with a score of 10 to 51. On the contrary, the B team ended up being the tournament champions with a score of 53 to O, against team 394, 2590A, and 2932A. Both teams did their best with no regrets. In the end it all paid off, and the B team won the tournament, the design award and robot skills.
