ASIJ VEX Robotics Challenge
This year Charger Robotics was given the chance to travel for the first time internationally to Japan. Not only did we go there to compete but to also gain some cultural experience.
Throughout the week the team had a chance to explore Japan. They went to Tokyo, Akihabara, Yonezawa, Hakone, Harajuku, Shinjuku, Disney Sea, and many more. It was an unforgettable experience to travel out of the country and get a little perspective. But it wasn't all fun and games, towards the end of the trip--November 18th to the 19th-- was the ASIJ Vex Robotics Challenge.
The team was really looking forward to meeting new people and teams and see what they have to offer. Being a Hawaii team has it's benefits, but one flaw is seeing the same teams each competition. This year we wanted to change it up a bit and gain knowledge from other teams outside of our country. They were looking forward to learning new techniques, designs, and engineering processes to maybe use the knowledge gained and improve on our part.
it was a pleasure competing with other teams from Japan, China, and Korea. Both team 4142 A and B did an excellent job throughout the competition. The A team ranked second and the B team ranked 4th out of 29 teams. After gruesome qualification matches, and wet weather both teams ended up with an alliance or created one. 4142 A allianced with team 7090A, VESIBAY ROBOTICS from China, and team 6724 CRX-K2 from South Korea. Team 4142 B allianced with 40401A, break; Exception from Yokohama Japan, and 99484B, the Knights from Christian Academy in Japan.
Both teams ended up competing against each other in the finals round. The night ended with 3 finals matches with team 4142 A on top. Although 4142 B didn't win, they still came out succcessful taking the Amaze Award back to Hawaii. In addition, both teams did Hawaii proud; 4142 A won the Tournament, and was given the Excellence Award, the most prestigious among all the other trophies. Charger Robotics representing Hawaii, Pearl City High School, and friends and family. We would like to thank our sponsors and parents who give endless support, and help us make these breathtaking experiences possible.
