ASIJ Robotics Competition
After arriving at Narita Airport at 2:00 p.m. on November 13, 4/6 of our students on the Pearl City High School Robotics Team were more than ready to take on our new experiences with our first time in Japan. Throughout the week, we took on many new experiences. Not only did we do a lot of shopping, but we went to Mount Fuji, Disney Sea, Asakusa, and Harajuku!
The competition itself was one like no other. With teams from Taiwan, China, Korea, and Japan, there were many unique robots and teams. Throughout the qualification matches, team 4142A remained at the top 5. By the time seeds were being formed, the team and teams 7090A and 6724B took the second seed.
During finals is where the competition became intense. Wining the first match with a score of 137, team 4142A and 7090A scored the tournament high, once again. During the second match of the three, the opposing teams took the match with the score being 112 to 96. The last and final match of the competition is where hearts stopped. The alliance 4235J, 7090B, and 99484A took the win, the title of tournament champions, with a score of 100. Teams 4142A, 7090A, and 6724B received the score of an amazingly close 99.
Although, in the end, when the excellence award recipient was announced, team 4142A couldn't have been happier to receive it.
