2017 Hawaii State VEX High School Championship
|
Team 4142 A, B and C flew up to Big Island this year to compete in the 2017 Hawaii State VEX High School Championship. Not knowing what to expect the team charged with determination, perseverance, and hope to compete well in the tournament to qualify both the B and C team to the 2017 World Championship.
On the first day of competition, the team calibrated their robot, practiced skills, and ran their autonomous. After checking out the competition, and working on a game plan for this tournament, it was time for qualification matches. Throughout the day each team was ready to rise to the challenge, and be the top seeded teams. They went up there prepared for the unexpected and did their best. With all their hard work, the A team ranked 1st, the B team was ranked 2nd, and the C team was ranked 11th place. Overall all teams did great after becoming the top seeded teams; but, it wasn't over yet. |
The A team decided to choose the B team as their alliance partner because they trusted in their abilities, and we decided to work together and qualify them to worlds as well. As for the C team they took things into their own hands by accepting 1973 B's alliance request.
Alliances: 4142 A, 4142 B, 1973 A
1973 B, 4142 C, 3008 A
After alliance selection was over, each team convened with their alliance, and calibrating to each other; then came eliminations. The first seed and the eighth seeded teams made their way to the field fighting to get to the top. As the other seeds competed against the next, Charger Robotics stayed undefeated until the C team lost in the quarter finals. But the team didn't hesitate; both the A and B team persevered all the way to the finals round which came down to them against team 359 A, 3008 A, and 42700. After 3 exhilarating finals matches Pearl City Robotics won the tournament.
The entire team jumped in the air and felt relieved, because all their hard work, long hours, and determination paid off. After the team received the Tournament champion award, robot skills, design award, and the think award it wasn't over for the C team. Because the A team already qualified for the World Championships they created an overlap, allowing teams that ran skills able to qualify. Fortunately for the C team they were high enough in the skills rankings and qualified for the World Championship! Now all three teams can compete at the 2017 VEX World Championship, and it is now up to everybody to work together and harder to accomplish great things.
