Alma Mater
Pearl City High School, Alma Mater Dear, We are proud, loyal and true To our name we hold up high. From the Koolau Range we come forth, Ready to accept the right, For we are strong, honest and true to thee, Pearl City High. |
Pearl City High School is located on the 2nd island of the Hawaiian Island Chain overlooks the Pearl City complex area and Pearl Harbor. Recently the school celebrated 50 years of educating students. Pearl City is know for it's outstanding band program, and abundant athletics programs.
With the fortitude of Principal Lammy Ching, its doors opened in September of 1971 with only a Freshman Class and a faculty of less than 30 members. During its first year of operation, only the A and B buildings were in use. P.E. was taught in A-B courtyard and lunch was served from B204. Every class had a slop bucket into which food was disposed. In the following years, C, D, E, F, K, L, and M buildings were constructed. Pearl City High School has grown ever since, presently with 140 teachers, over 1,000 students, and a proper lunch room. Pearl City educates students from Pearl City, Palisades, Waipio, and Waikele, as well as students from military families who live on the Pearl City peninsula. Pearl City High School has wonderful teachers, offers multiple AP classes, and is home to the infamous flights of stairs. It has come a long way from one freshmen class and 30 faculty to 100 faculty members and over 1,500 students. Check out PCHS's website here. |
